Automatic Power Factor Correction Panels ( APFC Panels )

Most of the commercial & Industrial installations in the country have large electrical loads which are severely inductive in nature, such as motors, large machines, air conditioners, drivers etc. This results in a severely lagging power factor. This means loss & wastage of energy and heavy penalties by electrical boards. In case of fixed loads this can be taken care by manual switching of capacitors However in case of rapidly varying & scattered loads it becomes difficult to maintain a high power factor by manually switching on /off the capacitors in proportion to variation of load within an installation. This drawback is overcome by using an APFC panel (Automatic Power Factor Correction Panel) which not only maintain high power factor but also eliminates the need for constant manual intervention.

Power Distribution Boards

Compartmentalised MCC was popular in earlier days from view of separate feeder. But from view of better heat efficiency of components and saving of space non compartmentalized PDBs are increasingly popular

These offer advantage of access to multiple devices at a glance and also saving of money due to much shorter lengths of wiring and termination.

This part has been manufactured by Total Electronics in Logansport, Indiana. This is similar to the old Power Distribution board made in 2008 by Diversified Systems. However, this part is supported under a 30-day warranty while the 2008 version is not. This is the reason why this product is more expensive and listed separately from the old PD board.

Power Control Centre is used for distribution and control of various power source used in industry. Normally Power Control Centers is installed near power source hence fault level is high. It is designed to suit fault level of 50KA or 65 KA for 1 sec. Busbar system in Power Control Centers are designed to suit the fault level as well as temperature rise to 40°c above ambient. Ample space is provided for cable termination. Various protections viz short circuit, overload, earth fault, under voltage etc are provided to protect source and equipment.

The complete structure shall be rigid, self supporting & free from twists and bends. The panels will be totally dust and vermin proof. They will have fixed or draw out type executions as many be desired.

Finish: The entire panel will undergo pretreatment covering decreasing, water rinsing & de-rusting/ phosphating. It will be synthetic enamel painted or powder coated as per requirements.

Bus Bars & Internal Wiring Uniform cross section copper Bus Bars (current density 1.39 amps/sq mm.) supported by SMC /DMC bases will be employed through out the length of the panel. Internal wiring be carried out with 11000/650 volt grade PVC insulated stranded conductor wire. All joints will be solidly crimped using copper thimbles Earthing Bus Bars will be running all along the board.
